Exhibition Teodore Duclère Sorrento

Drawings and paintings of the Correale Museum

Described as "the most beautiful museum in the province of Italy", for the superb scenery which includes the structure and the interesting variety of works of art preserved, the Correale Museum offers another appointment missed.

From 28 September 2013 to 30 April 2014
will be exposed to the public about thirty paintings and more than a hundred new drawings of Theodore Duclere in Correale Collection.
A student of Antoon Sminck Pitloo (Arnheim 1790-Naples 1837), the protagonist of the School of Posillipo and master of landscape Academy Naples, Duclere married Sophia Pitloo, daughter of the master, inheriting part of the collection of the painter, present today at the museum.

With the exhibition of Duclere the Correale Museum, in addition to divulge more and more enormous wealth it contains, offers an interesting contribution to the study and in detail about that period of Neapolitan painting known as the School of Posillipo.

The exhibition is organized by the support of Regione Campania and sponsored by the city of Sorrento.
